Shushan is an incorrigible gossip, endlessly talking to anyone who shows the faintest inclination to listen, without ever seeming to draw breath. It's a mixed blessing that actually understanding what she's talking about takes significant concentration for all but her son, Vart.
When alone, typically while working, she can be heard to sing beautiful, heart-wrenching paeans, presumably to her lost husband; no-one's yet understood enough to tell.
